Perfect Getaway - My Dog and I were traveling from Austin, Texas to Provo, Utah. After our first 10 hours, we were exhausted, and restless. I was looking for a rest stop along the way to hopefully catch a few hours sleep.....and that is when I saw the sign for Sumner Lake ... a mear 6 miles off the main highway So, we went to take a look. I am so glad that I did. What a beautiful place. nestles in the Mexico terrain. I would have never know it was there with everything a girl and her dog ever need. sandy beach and lake My dog and I were in heaven. I felt very safe, and rested the next morning, so my Dog and I stayed for another day on the beach and another night gazing at the stars. You can guarantee that I will be returning very soon.

Worked at Visitor Center 1999-2000. - I worked at the Visitor Center here from July 1999 to Feb 2000, and again from June 2000 to August 2000. I enjoyed all my time here. Nice Park.

Beautiful area- horrible stay - The location is simply gorgeous We are are driving across the country and found this lovely state park to spend a few nights. Called the number listed , recording said walk in first come first served.perfect. We arrive around 3 p.m. to roped off campgrounds, roped off sections. Finally found a spot to set up camp The bathroom facilitates were still closed for the season but porta-potties were available . The condition they were in was disgusting. Didnt look like they had been emptied in MONTHS. As a matter of fact, looking at a review from 4 month earlier with the same complaint, Id say they hadnt been emptied in 6 or more months. Our stay here was shortened to an overnight only.

Peaceful - This is a very beautiful place for people who enjoy the quiet serenity of nature. Campsites are well spaced apart, well maintained trails, clean bathrooms A perfect place for an artist to view and be inspired by the land around you.

Wonderful Memories - My husband and I spent part of our 25th anniversary trip and his birthday in Rockhound State Park many years ago. It was our first but not our last stay in one of the most beautiful and well maintained parks out of the 37states we visited.. I have many wonderful memories of camping there and witnessing the Duck Races in Deming. Thank you for the hospitality and memories.

Unbelievable adventure park - What a wonderful park The trails around and through this park are amazing. We hiked and biked and then went to the near by hot springs to relax our tired bodies. Even stayed a second night for another day of fun Sunrise and sunsets were stunning

Learned so much! - My son and I stayed overnight at Rockhound on the way from Texas to Tucson. The park host, Marilyn, gave us lots of information and advice about the specimens we could look for in the park. Marian, in the Visitors Center answered all our questions. She even suggested a reasonably-priced rock shop to polish up our finds. Rockhound is a unique stop with a great staff and the nicest bathrooms we have seen in a campground!
