Ames Nowell is a year-round day use area with recreational activity centered around Cleveland Pond which is popular with boaters and fisherman. Development includes a picnic area, ball field and several miles of trails along the pond edge and the surrounding woods.
Nature of the Area
Ames Nowell State Park, located in Massachusetts, is characterized by a diverse geographical landscape offering a blend of natural beauty and outdoor enthusiasm. The park, spanning over 700 acres, is adorned with dense, lush deciduous forests, open fields, and wetlands. Ranging from flat terrains to hillock areas, the park features a variety of geology including rocky outcrops. The centerpiece of the park is the Cleveland Pond which is a popular spot for fishing and boating, whereas several miles of trails and walkways meander through the park, traversing woods, fields, and wetlands, offering breathtaking views of the natural abundance. The area around is largely suburban, but embraces the charm of New England's rural scenery as well, thus representing a beautiful contrast to the park's wilderness.
Fishing
Enjoy fishing at a beautiful 100-acre pond, home to largemouth bass and pickerel. Also find yellow perch and sunfish.



Picnicking
Ames Nowell State Park offers picnic areas with grills, tables and restrooms. Fishing is allowed in Cleveland Pond nearby.
