- My father proposed to mom at Lake Nimrod 50 years ago. I stumbled upon the dam many years later and when I told them where I took the picture, the story came out. They celebrate their Golden Anniversary this weekend!

Truly enjoyable stay - Stayed one night while passing thru. Friendly staff and exceptionally clean park. Plenty of room between sites. Highly recommend even if a bit out of the way. Stayed in 36 ft motor home. RB, Salem, Oregon

magazine is tallest not rich mtn - I love the ouachitas and I beg all of you to take a bag with you amd pick up any trash that I missed lol. Mt magazine is the highest point in usa between rockies and appalachians, not rich mtn. Please take care of this last frontier! Ancient trees and historic forests are being actively nurtured here!!!

Favorite Places - We love camping here. It is very peaceful and the place is very well maintained. The park staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a great place for everyone. Our grandchildren love coming here with us. We just wish they had a swimming area. That would make it perfect. But, we do love it here!! We come as often as we can.

Great memory - I went here with my dad when I was about 12 and it was an adventure- we had a great time- no diamonds but plenty of other amazing stones. A dirty, muddy, fantastic good time! Kids will love it.

Need to rebuild bridge at park entrance - I have visited this park in the past and it is an amazingly beautiful place. Unfortunatley, the bridge over the creek at the entrance was washed out in 2011 and not rebuilt. My family and I were unable to cross the creek due to high water in mid-March of 2012.
Now Mississippi River State Park - Arkansas State Parks began management of Bear Creek Lake Rec Area in St Francis National Forest, and it is now called Mississippi River State Park. 14 class AAA lake front campsites with water, 50 amp electric and sewer are located on this beautiful lake south of Marianna, surrounded by the National Forest. Primitive camping is also near by. Great staff, great location. They really take care of you.
alot of history in refuge -
